On the night of the spring semester of 2021, I went to bed thinking about ways how I could inspire leadership and interest in politics among the youth. All because, during my years of experience volunteering for the conservative party of Canada and recently for the conservative party of BC, I started feeling that people had lost interest in politics due to political scandals and corrupt political elites. Among them were the youth of the province, who, on many occasions, did not even know who to vote for; neither had an interest in voting, something that happened to other BC residents, too. That night, thinking about my capacity to inspire and to change hearts and minds with politics, I thought: If Jesus called me to be light and commended me no to hide my lamp, but to let it shy, perhaps this is the time to run for council and invite many young people to run after me. This, though, came right after I read in an article from the news that young people need more interest to run for council in Langley because the pay is low compared to the house market in BC. This, thus, was my primary inspiration. My second motivation to run was hearing from farmers about the many abusive bylaws put forward that restricted them from their ability to do with their properties as they will, and my love for food and farms. Lastly, my third interest was to bring major changes in municipal politics here in Langley. One of these changes is my strong stand and defense to keep and preserve green areas of Langley for community growth, community gardens, community compost, and green spaces for mental health purposes. An initiative that will help us to keep air pure and enjoy of natural reserves that allow us to breath and enjoy spaces free of stress and anxiety for our minds.
