About Carlos

Carlos has had an interest about harmony, equality, and to be a mediator since early age. He loved spending time outdoors and on farms milking cows, as he used to do this every summer during the holy week in Colombia at Subachoque. However, Carlos was never interested in politics; he wanted to bring good judgement and reconciliation among those close to him. Therefore, his strength he found in loving the poor, farmers, and First Nations and establishing peace among those he loved. Carlos realized he had a natural heart for equality, fairness, and mediating among people in conflict. These skills he showed early in his life during monetary family conflicts within his maternal family. Carlos’s interest in politics began during the 90th as he found it very fun and interesting helping Andres Pastrana Arango, a former conservative president in Colombia, with his campaign and got involved in the youth movement and outreach volunteer work. It was not until 2015 that Carlos felt like getting involved in politics in Canada and volunteered with the NDP in Toronto by helping Jack Layton’s campaign doing door knocking for the first time. This was a meaningful experience; Carlos also volunteered for Andrea Horwath with his friend Matias de Dedovitis during one of Andrea’s first Campaigns. However, his dispersed mind and compulsive behaviour kept on telling him that it was not the time to do anything more than volunteer work. In 2010 Carlos converted to Protestantism, and for his 30th birthday, he got his first membership with the conservative party of Canada. It was then that Carlos felt love and passion for Canadian leadership, as he was also doing his college studies at Camosun College. In the years thereafter, from 2010-2020, Carlos continued his volunteer work. Still, now as a Christian, his heart’s interests were only with helping and building the Conservative Party of Canada, for which he volunteered for the three following federal elections both in Victoria, and his last campaign being with Tamara Jansen, former MP for Langley, Surrey, Cloverdale. In addition, Carlos’s love for British Columbia and the need to bring back the province to its bases in the gospel and a politics of morality and common sense inspired him to get involved with the Conservative Party of BC.
